Yesterday’s issue of 'Puls Biznesu’, a major Polish business daily, published an article entitled Judges need justice, analysing the current situation of the Polish judiciary. Mr. Jarosław Bełdowski, partner at SMM Legal, was among the experts quoted in the text.
Mr. Bełdowski pointed to the issue of unfair distribution of work between courts in smaller towns and large cities. Cases are allocated based on the local competence of the court, which generates a high disproportion in caseload. Furthermore, he emphasized the challenges faced by business courts in Polish metropolises (the lengthiness of proceedings, high costs) which require reasonable solutions, without which the litigation process cannot be streamlined or accelerated.
