Profile

Specialising in intellectual property law, unfair competition law and contract law, Mr Ruchała advises clients, represents them in disputes and supports them in transactions, particularly in IT-related agreements.

Experience

He has been with SMM Legal since 2012 and has handled projects for clients in the banking, energy, chemical, trade fair and IT sectors. He represents clients in court disputes concerning intellectual property infringements, acts of unfair competition, claims for damages caused by anti-competitive agreements, the use of prohibited clauses, infringement of personal rights, and disputes under commercial contracts, including proceedings before the Polish Patent Office.

He prepares and negotiates agreements related to intellectual property and specialised IT contracts, such as software development, implementation and maintenance agreements, licence agreements and source code escrow agreements. He also participates in due diligence reviews.

He contributed to creating Poland’s first arbitration panel for resolving disputes between exhibitors under intellectual property and unfair competition law for a leading trade fair entity.

A conference speaker, author of academic publications, trainer and lecturer. He is currently working on his PhD dissertation in copyright law.
