Global climate change and the recourse to alternative energy sources, which only gained urgency following the invasion of Ukraine, mean it’s time to explore the options offered by hydrogen. SMM Legal has joined the First Central European Hydrogen Technologies Forum, or H2POLAND, as the legal partner. On 17-18 May 2022, together with the MPT Group, we are pleased to invite you to Poznań for the first hydrogen-dedicated fair in Central and Eastern Europe.
The H2POLAND Forum is a project targeted at government administration representatives, local administration units, entrepreneurs, business and academia interested in state-of-the-art, environment-friendly technologies. It aims at leveraging international cooperation to boost hydrogen investments in the near future.
Over the two days of the event, SMM Legal experts will moderate debates and make presentations for the event participants.
‘This event is a major step towards energy transition in Poland,’ says Michał Tarka, SMM Legal Partner handling the matters of energy transition for our clients. ‘The issue of alternative energy sources returns with double force not only because of the global climate change, but also the economic-political situation. ‘The war in Ukraine has accelerated the urgency of finding an alternative to gas and coal from Russia,’ adds our expert. ‘During the debate I will have the pleasure to moderate we will demonstrate that hydrogen may help to make Poland independent from raw materials imported from Russia,’ concludes Mr. Tarka.
To make hydrogen technologies widely applicable, it is not enough to ensure appropriate infrastructure and financing – most importantly, it is necessary to put in place appropriate legal framework, which is being currently developed. Our SMM Legal team is one of the trailblazers when it comes to the implementation of energy transition measures and has a dedicated specialist energy law team. During the Forum, its members will discuss current trends in Polish and EU legislation.
‘We believe that hydrogen may become the fuel to revolutionize Polish and EU energy. Not only do we need to raise the awareness of its potential among Polish businesspeople and local governments, but also show them how to find the much-needed financing,’ says Mateusz Stańczyk of SMM Legal who will explain to Forum participants how to wisely use public funds from future assistance programmes to finance hydrogen-based economy.
‘The innovative approach to the challenges of today is the core component of our corporate DNA,’ concludes Przemysław Maciak, Managing Partner at SMM Legal. ‘This is yet another joint project carried out by our Firm and the MTP Group,’ he adds. ‘This time we broaden entrepreneurs’ opportunities when it comes to exploiting the potential of modern and climate-neutral economy. The outcomes will be beneficial to all stakeholders – the economy, the environment and the business world,’ concludes Mr. Maciak.
