Prof. Maciej Mataczyński, Managing Partner at SMM Legal, is attending the European Economic Congress, a three-day event (14-16/05/2018) launched today in Katowice.
Prof. Mataczyński sits on two panels. The first one, entitled “A Strategy for the Polish Energy Industry. Security and Business”, will discuss the strategy for the Polish energy industry, with special focus on the sector of fuels. The discussion will open with a short introduction by Krzysztof Tchórzewski, the Polish Minister of Energy, and will concern the planned merger between PKN Orlen and the LOTOS Group, believed to be the biggest merger so far in the history of the Polish economy. SMM Legal has been selected to provide comprehensive legal advisory throughout the process.
Today Prof. Mataczyński will also participate in a session entitled “The energy industry in Europe. Dilemmas and challenges”. The panel will focus on the key issues and opportunities for development in the European energy sector today. Speakers will discuss EU energy policy – its current objectives, advancements, effective and planned regulations, as well as their importance for the development of the industry.
