SMM Legal at the “Local Government of the Future” 2026 Conference

SMM Legal representatives took part in the 3rd edition of the Local Government of the Future Conference, held in Toruń, which brought together local government officials, experts, and practitioners involved in the development of local and regional authorities. The conference programme focused on key issues related to the energy transition, security, digitalisation, and regulatory changes affecting the public sector.

Among the speakers were also experts from SMM Legal. Mateusz Stańczyk delivered a presentation on the role of local governments in building energy sovereignty. His speech addressed the legal and organisational aspects of implementing energy projects by local government units, as well as opportunities to strengthen energy independence and leverage local resources as part of the long-term development of local communities.

Tomasz Lewandowski, in turn, presented a topic concerning pay transparency in local government administration. His presentation focused on the implications of the new regulations on salary transparency and the measures that public offices and organisational units should take to properly prepare for the implementation of the upcoming changes.

Participation in the conference provided SMM Legal with an opportunity to share insights gained through advising local government entities and to exchange knowledge with public administration representatives from across Poland. Topics related to energy security, public sector transformation, and adapting local government operations to evolving legal requirements attracted particular interest from participants.

We would like to thank the organisers for the invitation and the opportunity to take part in this event, which once again served as a valuable platform for substantive discussion on the key challenges and future directions of Polish local government development.
