In 2019, we initiated our collaboration with the SWPS University, extending our patronage to the law programme at the Poznan-based campus of the University. Despite the pandemic, we have managed to strengthen the relationships with the faculty and continue our joint programme “Law, Business and You” targeted at students.
In this academic year, we launched our cooperation with a lecture by Przemysław Maciak, Managing Partner at SMM Legal. The meeting focused on the opportunities to pursue a career in the legal procession in the current job market.
‘The image of a lawyer created in the media is often completely detached from reality,’ explains Mr. Maciak. ‘As experienced practitioners we know how important it is for students, at the very beginning of their journey, to make informed choices about their career paths. We are glad to be of help in this process,’ adds Mr. Maciak. The “Law, Business and You” programme includes traineeship and internship opportunities at our Firm.
On top of this, our experts teach a range of practical classes. As a result, the students may learn what a criminal court hearing looks like, get to know the intricacies of the bar traineeship programmes, or obtain guidelines on polishing their legal English.
‘A chance to peek into the real-life law firm operations is highly appreciated by students,’ says Tomasz Lewandowski, PhD, who took up a new role of the Deputy Dean for Teaching at the Faculty in October. ‘Students’ feedback on lecturers in final course evaluation forms leaves no doubts in this respect.
Additionally, two of our experts, Anna Zbierska and Marcin Czarnecki, were awarded Dean’s prize for their outstanding teaching achievements in the previous year, heavily affected by the pandemic. At the same time, Tomasz Lewandowski, PhD, earned the Dean’s prize for his major contribution to the organization of the law programme. The youngest student of the group, Aleksander Hyżorek, was granted the Very Important Student scholarship in recognition of this exceptional involvement in students’ and academic activity in the year 2020/2021. Congratulations!
