We are pleased to announce that our Firm has yet another PhD in its ranks.
On 11 December 2018, Mr. Kalikst Nagel of SMM Legal’s Public Procurement Department successfully defended his PhD dissertation on human rights theory entitled “Inherent human capacity for inherent rights. A study in legal theory and philosophy of law” at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. On 29 January 2019 the Council of the Faculty of Law and Administration adopted a resolution conferring on Mr. Kalikst Nagel the degree of PhD in legal sciences.
Dr. Nagel’s dissertation was supervised by Prof. Marek Smolak of the Chair of Law Theory and Philosophy at Adam Mickiewicz University. Dr. Nagel’s research project involved a thorough review of Constitutional Court’s case law and an analysis of Polish legislation with the use of specialist interpretative tools. The dissertation was reviewed by recognized Polish experts in law theory and philosophy, Prof. Rev. Tomasz Barankiewicz and Prof. Wojciech Dziedziak.
Dr. Nagel is a specialist on public procurement and business law. He skillfully combines expertise in law theory and practice to solve even the most complex interpretative problems. Since 2014, he has been focusing on the issues related to public procurement, including contracts awarded in regulated sectors. The projects he has worked on include large and complex infrastructural investments. He has lent his expertise in legal advisory regarding investments fraught with serious legal problems.
